Junior Specialist, Department of Neurology, UCSF School of Medicine

 

1. The Department of Neurology seeks a highly motivated, dynamic individual with a Bachelor’s degree (B.S. preferred) for the position of Junior Specialist. This individual will contribute to the development and implementation of clinical trials under the direct supervision of Dr. Ari Green and Dr. Jonah Chan, faculty members in the Department of Neurology. Interested applicants must have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, an active interest in cutting-edge patient care and the capacity to communicate effectively regarding scientific concepts to both patients and clinicians. Job requirements will include lab based and administrative functions related to the specified project. Familiarity with clinical and/or laboratory research including regulatory approvals are preferred. Phlebotomy training, experience with clinical imaging, clinical electrophysiology, word processing, web design and computer based skills are a plus. Minimum two-year commitment is required.

Interested applicants must have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, an active interest in cutting-edge research and the capacity to communicate effectively regarding scientific concepts. Job requirements will include lab based, clinical, and administrative functions related to the specified project.  Previous experience in molecular biology, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and mouse models/genotyping are preferred. Statistical modeling, web design and computer based skills are a plus. Minimum two-year commitment is required. 

Responsibilities:

  • Animal (mouse) care/handling
  • Histology/immunohistochemistry
  • Genotyping
  • Assist with advanced visual procedures
  • Assist in developing experiment protocols
  • Work closely with team of post-docs and other specialists
  • Opportunities to work with patients, conducting observational and interventional trials
