Visual system

A window into neurological injury.

We use the visual system to investigate changes in nervous system structure and function, and to develop measurements for research studies.

Connecting structure and function

The lab’s existing research description highlights electrophysiology and visual system evaluation. These approaches connect measurements of nervous system activity with the biology of neurological disease.

The retina as a research focus

A 2024 collaborative study examined injury in the inner plexiform layer of the retina and its association with multiple sclerosis progression. This work connects retinal measurements with biological questions about neurodegeneration.

Visual pathways in clinical investigation

ReCOVER studies potential myelin repair after acute optic neuritis, using assessments that include electrophysiology and MRI. Study participation and eligibility are determined by the research team.
