Assistant Specialist

 

The Department of Neurology seeks a highly motivated, dynamic individual with a Bachelor's degree (or in process) for the position of Assistant Specialist. The degree must be obtained at the time of appointment. This individual will contribute to the development and implementation of animal and clincal research under the direct supervision of Dr. Ari Green and Dr. Bridget Ostrem, faculty members in the Department of Neurology. Interested applicants must have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, an active interest in cutting-edge research and the capacity to communicate effectively regarding scientific concepts. Job requirements will include lab based. clinical, and administrative functions related to the specified project. Previous experience in molecular biology, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and mouse models/genotyping is preferred. Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) are required. Minimum two-year commitment is required. We encourage candidates from underrepresented backgrounds to apply. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Animal (mouse) care/handling
  • Histology/Immunohistochemistry 
  • Genotyping 
  • Assist with advanced visual procedures 
  • Assist in developing experimental protocols 
  • Work closely with team of post-docs and other specialists 
  • Oppotunities to work with patients, conducting observational and interventional trials
